NIS coaches protest demand pending salaries, regularization

Srinagar, June 10 (KNO): The NIS community coaches held a silent protest against the government for not releasing their wages and demanded regularistion of services.

Protesting candidates told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they were inducted by J&K sports council back in 2016 but till date authorities neglected their services and made them suffer for want of their wages.

A female protester among the others said that like her a handsome number of NIS trained coaches were engaged by youth services and sports council Jammu and Kashmir back in 2016 but to date our services have not been regularized despite promises from authorities.

She said after being engaged by the department in late 2016 they have received the salary of the year 2017 only but over the years the department despite assurances have filed to provide us with the outstanding wages.

Another protester said that the department doesn't bother to pay them their wages even in the tough times while other departments have mandatorily paid the outstanding wages they are made to suffer.

He said even during this pandemic they rendered their services without any delay, gave online lectures and ensured practice is not halted even though their salaries are withheld.

The protesting NIS candidates have sought personal intervention of Lt Governor Jammu and Kashmiri and demanded their pending salaries and sought regaularistion—(KNO)
