DDC takes appraisal of development works in Kangan Sub-Division Hands over several job cards to beneficiaries




GANDERBAL, JUNE 25: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today took whirlwind tour of several areas of Kangan Sub-Division to have firsthand appraisal about the resumption of development works in the area.


During the tour the DDC inspected various ongoing development works in several areas including block Kangan and Gund where several on spot directions were given to the executing departments for expediting the pace of works in these areas.


During the inspection of ongoing works the DDC was accompanied by Concerned BDC chairpersons, Sarpanchs and Panchs.
While interacting with the PRIs, the DDC complemented them for their major role in revival of the development works in the district and participating actively in mitigating measures related to COVID-19 taken by the district administration.



The development works that were inspected during the visit include Thune Brenwaar road, de-silting works, fencing of graveyard at Mammar-A, several works under MGNREGA, 14TH FC besides job cards were also distributed at Mammar and Kangan.


While inspecting the progress of work on Thune Brenwaar road, Executive Engineer R&B informed the DDC that road is approved under NABARD at the cost of RS 737.04 lakh of length 5km on which about 60 percent work is already completed including bridge.



The Executive Engineer also raised the issue of shifting of electric poles at approaching road near bridge for which DDC said that the matter will be taken up with the concerned.

While inspecting the ongoing de-silting works carried by RDD, the DDC stressed for following guidelines and SOPs related to COVID- 19 pandemic like wearing face masks, maintaining social distance and frequent hand washing.


Meanwhile DDC also distributed re-verified Job Cards among beneficiaries at Mammar-A and Kangan. While interacting with the beneficiaries, he said that distribution process of 33727 re-verified Job Cards is already initiated in the district which will be completed within shortest possible time.



Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that district administration has taken slew of measures to provide succor to the people of district especially the labours/workers who have most suffered due to lockdown and in this regard we have prioritized all such works that generate more work days so that workers could earn their livelihood.
Among others, the DDC was accompanied by ACD Ganderbal Bilal Mukhtar, Executive Engineer of PHE, Tehsildar Lar. Tehsildar Kangan, BDO Kangan and other concerned.
