Covid-19: Amid lockdown, teacher uploads online lectures to help students in Shopian

Jahangeer Ganaie

Shopian, Apr 11 (KNO): As entire valley is under strict lockdown to combat the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, a teacher from south Kashmir's Shopian district has found a new way for teaching the students to ensure they don't miss out on their lessons. The teacher has uploaded lectures on YouTube to help students of class 11 and class 12 in this southern district, a move hailed by the students and local people.

According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Aaqib Ahmad Sofi, a resident of Aglar village in Shopian district, who has completed his post-graduation in Physics from Kashmir university has been uploading lectures on daily basis on YouTube in order to keep his students and other students in touch with studies.

Aaqib, while talking with KNO said that Kashmir is prone to lockdowns and students are suffering mostly and so he decided to upload lectures on YouTube for the students to learn by staying at home.

He said before lockdown he was teaching physics to at least 300 students of class 11th and 12th at three coaching centres on regular basis but due to the lockdown all centres were closed after which he decided to upload lectures on Youtube to ensure students learn from home.

"I am delivering lectures on all topics of 11th and 12th Physics as per NCERT and CBSE syllabus so that students won't get affected by the lockdown but due to low internet speed I am able to upload only one lecture on daily basis," he said.

He said that he has received a good feedback from the students and he is hopeful that he will cover whole syllabus of both the classes, besides lectures as per NEET syllabus.

“Due to frequent lockdowns, students are mostly getting affected and I try to contribute from my side so that students won't face any difficulties,” he said. He urged other educated youth to come forward and help the students so that their precious time isn’t wasted.

He also urged the authorities to restore 4G date services so that they can upload more and more lectures and use other online platforms to help the students—(KNO)
